if you have oil central heating, then economy 7 shouldn't be clicking in, it's for
electric central heating, unless you had that previously and changed to oil, and the
old time switch wasn't removed.
Do you have a two rate meter?0 -
Yes, I have a 2 rate meter. Is this wrong? I have lived at this address for just over 2 years and have always had this meter and always had oil fired heating.
Is there any chance I could of been paying more because of this?0 -
Hi,
if you have oil central heating and use that for heating your water as well,
then I would say you are on the wrong meter.
The Economy 7 meter is for electric heating, recording normal day usage and
night usage.
I would think that you have probably paid more over the term, as your night
usage will be very low.
Just out of interest, take a reading each morning and see what you are
using.0 -
Hi,
another thought, methinks that there must've been electric heating in there
at one time, and replaced by oil, and that your electricity supplier hadn't
been notified of the change, so you still have a two rate meter.0 -
If you have a two rate meter but are only on a single rate tariff, the energy company won't go through the hassle and expense of changing your meter, instead they just add up the total units used and charge all units at the same rate.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I would like them to change the meter though, if only to have 2 newer bits of kit in my bedroom cupboard.
Can't I just tell them that i suspect it's faulty? Maybe a fire risk or something??0 -
well it looks like i have to ring edf energy to change the meter. Not sure they'll do it as it's not actually faulty.0
