Hi, hope this is the right place to ask this. Two of my children will be off to Uni soon - one next year and one the year after (hopefully!!). Anyway, they've been asking a lot of questions about finances, banks, budgeting etc which I have tried to explain as best I can. I thought it would be a good idea if they had all the information they need in one book that they can refer to as and when they need to. Does anyone know of a beginners book on finance etc that would be suitable? Any suggestions gratefully received - I've shown them this site and tried to be around for questions etc but they find it all so boring. Help!!

It astonishes me what they are NOT taught in schools! But leaving that aside ...
I have been trawling around the BBC Skillswise pages, looking for a resource pack which I'm sure my DH has had from them. Couldn't find it, but instead found this, if it's any help?
Some of the skillswise stuff may be of interest as well.
If they don't yet have their own bank account, let them open one, and give them an allowance to cover whatever you think best - for mine in the 6th form it's bus fares mostly. And THEY are resonsible for withdrawing the money BEFORE they need it, rather than asking me for £20 at 11 pm because they've run out of rides and cash!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi chugalug,
I wanna board was not the wrong place to post, but I think that you will get more replies on the student board, so I hope that you don't mind if I move your thread over there.
