What do you do with money left?

Options
NOt sure if this has been asked before maybe I have just missed it.

My first month on GC is coming to an end and I am likely to have about £100 left from May :T

What do I do with it ? Do I save it :D or spend it  .

What do others do ? I must say I have really surprised myself at how little I have acually spent on groceries since I have started paying attention lol

I'm saving for french doors, and to brick up the wall where the door is at the moment.

I set my budget to what I thought was fairly low, haven't had any left yet. Having said that, I haven't a clue what I was spending before I started keeping track, but am absolutely sure it was almost twice what we are spending now... fewer luxury items, much less meat, as dd is veggie, so we all eat quite a lot of veggie food now. If there is money in the current account I pay it off the 0% credit card that we funded the last bit of our extension with. trying to get rid of that ASAP

Stick it in an instant access savings account so it's there gathering interest and growing by the week. Then you can take delight in seeing the amount grow. You can either then use it as a lump sum to pay off a chunk of mortgage or blow it in a nice holiday. See my signature!

    What pavlovs_dog said :)

If this is your first month of making a saving, I'd be wary of planning to spend it on anything specific. Cos s0d's law says that if you do, something will come up next month, and you'll wish you hadn't spent it ;)

Once you've got a bit put aside for emergencies, perhaps in future months you could split it between long-term savings and a "treats" fund.

I have spent to save a few times..Bread machine, sewing machine, hair cutting kit, pvc greenhouse. All are in regular use.
I always keep a savings buffer though. If the buffer is depleted, replenishing it is the first priority .
