If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing/what did you do for yours? How much on average did it cost? etc.

Hi
I had about 230 guests, and booked Rembrandt Hotel, Knightsbridge. Had meet and greet - champange reception, first dance of the evening, dinner (open bar  ) and dance (live music) cakes decoration etc... We all enjoyed ourselves and spent a weeee fortune. It came all in at about 6k0 -
Our day was all in the same venue (ceremony, reception and evening party).
We started at about 7.30pm and I kicked off the night with a speech then invited my new hubby onto the dance floor for our first dance. This was immediately followed by our wedding singer. He was am amazing swing-style singer called Jason Isaacs. He performed for about an hour and a half and by this time EVERYONE was dancing and handed over the reigns to the DJ who played until 1am. This was exactly what I wanted as I'd been to some parties when the dancing doesn't get going until after the buffet and I wanted to aviod that. At about 9pm the staff came round with huge platters of bacon butties that went down a storm - there was also nibbles on each table and a cheese board. There was no interval for the buffet....the party just went on around it! My Dad put £1k behind the bar (although I didn't know about this this until later in the evening).
I can't really put a price on it as the venue's bill included everything from the whole day.It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
our evening is at the same place as the wedding breakfast and we're having a barn dance. Probably about 120 people there and i'm looking forward to a good laugh and lots of fun. Out of the whole reception etc it's probably going to cost £1k - £1.5k0

Have a look on the council web site for the area that you are interested in. It will have a list of licensed venues.
That's how I found our venue in North Yorkshire.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

I am getting married in July 09 and we have just booked a function room at a resturant for our evening venue.
We are having an afternoon wedding and then just one reception that runs right through. I have a huge family and the guest list is currently at around 140 and thats with some people being left out so we have struggled to get somewhere which will:
A) Accomodate so many peopleLet us have just one reception in a peak time
The venue we have booked is gorgeous, was surprised at just how nice it is, and they don't charge for the room hire, just £100 if we want their DJ.
We are having a hot/cold seated buffet, to give it a bit more formality as you would normally get with a wedding breakfast. This is £11 a head and the manager at the venue said he would throw in deserts at cost price and not the normal £3/£4 a head you usually see.
The buffet menu is fantastic for the price, I am so glad that we found it!0 -
We're having a buffet at £6.95 a head, not a bad spread for the price, the venue has cost us £280 from 3pm til midnight, a DJ at £120 from 6.30pm to midnight and not sure what decorations have cost, thanks to MIL (see my post on Brizedilla lol). We've catered for 70 though it'll be more like 60 with most of my family now dropping out. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -
I'm SERIOUSLY struggling to find a venue for the reception that is
a) available
b) isn't ridiculously expensiveAny tips?
