Weed contol for a gravel drive

I have a large gravel drive and have a problem with weeds growing up through it. Does anyone have any tips how to contol this? The normal Path Clear products would cost a fortune for the area involved. Are there any cheaper products? Thanks

Is there a weed control membrane under the gravel? If not, you could remove the gravel, lay a membrane and relay the gravel on top. This should stop a lot of them coming through (but not sure how practical this would be as you said its a large area)
There are some weedkillers you can buy in concentrate form. You just need to dilute them in water and apply to the gravel. Something like this -http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9426511&fh_view_size=6&fh_location=//catalog01/en_GB&fh_search=weedkiller&fh_eds=ß&fh_refview=search&ts=1211901222477&isSearch=true says it treats 444 m sq!! You need to really keep on top of it though as some weeds need more than one application. Make sure you get a weedkiller that kills the weed right down to the root. I've found that you don't need to use pathclear at anything like the recommended concentration to get good weed control (but can't say how weak it needs to be - I use a 5 litre pressure sprayer with one sachet) - the trick seems to be to spray before the weeds have grown - or failing that give them a good hoeing before you use the spray.0
