I was thinking that there would be no way i'd want bread that smells like that sourdough.
Today I chucked some away and added fresh flour and water and they are bubbling away nicely, I may get brave tomorrow and give some bread a go.
The things we do for fun......
OH!!! Good Friday Sourdough bread... Mine is currently bubbling away in the warmest part of the house so that it will be ready for using tomorrow. :j
Grief - hope this works!!0 -

Well, the dough is now in the rising stage but I'm not that hopeful. It didn't 'feel' right but I'll leave it for a few hours to see it if it's working. May not have Good Friday Sourdough bread after all.0 -

Something odd going on full stop! When I post I can't see my post BUT when I look at the index I'm the last poster! It's only when someone else posts after me that my post shows up.
Hope that all makes some sense.
Dough still in airing cupboard - still not hopeful.0 -
I've reported the thread to webby. Nope - flat as a pancake!! I suspect the unexpected move the fridge on Thursday was the problem. House smells like baby sickand the lump is just not doing anything.
Hey ho - will try again after the weekend. Off now until Monday so no point doing anything with it.
Hope you have better luck!0 -
Hmmm dont know if I dare even use it!
I really want to give it a go but its a big waste if its horrid.
I may be brave next week when the house is quite again0 -
I make sourdough bread - commercial and baker's yeast free. I started it off with a bunch of organic grapes and had a starter by the following day. I have done it by waiting for the natural yeasts in the air to ferment the dough, but the grapes made an excellent starter that I'm still using after 6 months. (My sister even took a piece back to Australia and is making loaves there now!) If you want the recipe let me know - am a bit rushed now!I'm not as green as I'm cabbage looking!
