Train journey in London-Please help !

Hi Londoners-advice for country bumpkin please.
I will arrive by train to Kings cross with disabled parents and need to get to Leatherhead without using underground . Which station is best to use Victoria or Vauxhall or other??? I will use taxi to get to next train station.
Many many thanks

I'm not sure what the question is: are you asking for ease of access or frequency of service?

Waterloo/Vauxhall have 4 trains per hour to Leatherhead. Victoria only has 2. Of course, Clapham Junction has all 6.

I would say boarding at a terminus is likely to be easier, as then you can board the train around 10 minutes before it is due to leave and you can take your time boarding.

Waterloo is nearer King's Cross, and it also has more trains, so on the face of it appears to be the best choice. The Leatherhead trains will leave from the east side platforms.

A taxi should be able to drop you off here.

A taxi to Vauxhall would cost a lot more as the distance is far greater.
  • Hi and thanks yorkie2

I am glad you adviced to go to Waterloo as more trains per hour gives us flexibility.

I just found this site today hope I can help someone out in return.

    Cheers

And if you wanted to avoid an expensive taxi fare, when you get to Kings Cross walk across to St Pancras International and get a First Capital Connect Service to Brighton and get off at London Bridge. This should come in on platform 5 at London Bridge, walk to the adjacent platform 6 and board any train to London Charing Cross. Get off at Waterloo East then walk over to Waterloo Main line station.

https://www.tfl.gov.uk has a public transport planner which handly allows you to specify that you need vehicles with disabled access.

Bus 73 goes to Victoria, or bus 59 to Waterloo. Both are wheelchair accessible according to the site.

But being as there are a few of you, I would take a black cab.

This page has more information on disabled access in london
