NIGHTMARE moving house
1. SKY
Installation booked for the Sunday after we moved in, engineer arrived the following Saturday. Without any TV for a week. Engineer couldn't find our address, helpdesk write my mobile number down wrong so he couldn't phone for directions.......or be bothered to ask someone on the street.
2. BRITISH GAS
Phoned to Migrate account to the new house. I asked about moving electric providers so we could have a small discount under their dual fuel plan. They sent me a TXT asking me to phone up to fast track the order. I have phoned up to be told they have no record of me or our new address.
3. LEGAL AND GENERAL - INSURANCE
Phoned up before moving house to get all our insurances renewed for the new mortgage and to cover our new home. They took down all my details incorrectly and forgot to swap the address. Result is that I am now paying £110 extra a month to be covered for a different house. If I fall ill the insurance will be void anyway as our personal details are wrong
4. BT
Phoned before we moved house to get a new line installed and our old number ported over. The engineer came the next Monday but was unable to get the outlets working. I got my crone tool out after we left and fixed it myself. He said our old number would be activated within 24 hours. 250+ hours later we are still waiting. Phoned up India to be told they had kept re-activating the new number not the old one......IDIOTS!!!
5. NATWEST
Phoned today to check if my old Credit Card had been cancelled.........it hadn't
........that was six months agoThey are also sending bank statements to my parents address with my girlfriends name on........we moved SEVEN YEARS ago.
6. ROYAL MAIL
Spent £60 for a six month mail redirection. The mail is going to house number 11 not our house number 7
7. ABBEY NATIONAL
after telling their mortgage advisor how to work out the amount we needed to borrow.. we applied for a mortgage which came with free legals and £250 cashback. Phoned up the helpdesk to be told that the £250 cashback WAS the legal fees. Phoned back 5 minutes later to be told by someone else that it wasn't legal fees and that my solicitor had it. Funny that as it's not on my final reciept.
8. SCOTTISH POWER
Closed our old account and asked if they knew who our new provider was.......after giving them the MPAN serial number they checked and told us it was PowerGen.......it's not, IT'S SCOTTISH POWER!!!!
9. VIRGIN MEDIA
Sent me a Bill on the 15th May for £37.00 then another bill on the 19th May for £35. They seemed to think that £35 for 4 days broadband use was acceptable. MUPPETS!!!!!
Phoned twice and finally worked out that the previous bill for £37 should have been cancelled.
10. ANGLIAN WATER
After spending 10 minutes using their automated system I 'successfuly' updated our new details. Phoned after we moved in to check they had everything sorted. They had NO RECORD that we have moved.

Here's a brief report of the problems I have encountered

Watch Virgin media, I had a similar thing happen to me, I thought it was all sorted, but after a couple of months I had a letter from a finance company saying that if I didn't pay then they would send out the baliffs.:mad:0 -

Sky do that as well. Their trick is when you cancel your subscription on moving out, they keep sending the sky magazine, which was previously free with your subscription, to your old address, and start billing you a fiver a month for it.
Naturally the new occupier assume the magazine is junk mail (which it looks like) and bins it. 12 months later you get a treatening letter at your new address demanding £60 or they will start court procedings.
I don't know if they improved but previously Sky would say they couldn't deal with the issue 'cos the've sold the debt to a collection agency, and the collection agency want the money or else.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you.
