I had the same thing happen to me.

    keys to my car
    partners car stolen
    Motorbike keys
    Keys to house
    Property stolen
    back door damaged.

I paid out £600 in excess for buildings, contents and both car insurances
I also had to buy a second hand lock set for the motorbike and have it fitted -cost about £300.

As for my car - as he had stolen one key i was scared he might come back so I claimed from my car insurance and had a new lock set fitted which cost insurance company approx £450. My insurance renewal came back as an extra £200 this year.
I was not happy so searched around and found it for just £7 more than last year so its not too bad.

I know its a pain and I considered most of the stuff you and others suggested but I was so worried about them returning that I could not have slept at night knowing I might wake up any day with my car missing - and then the insurance would nut pay out because I did not claim when the key was stolen

All I can say is be careful about your decision you wouldn't want to be without a car and not be able to claim

And for the record, when I was visited by a crime prevention officer he said unless you are living in a neighbourhood with seriously high crime rates, the perpetrators are unlikely to come back again because of the extra risk.

I hope all works out for you boyse7en
