New Home Utilities

Hello,

there are many utilities comparison sites but they all require you to give details of your previous bills. I am about to move to a different part of the country and of course, do not have previous bills for my new home. is there any way to compare utilities deals without having this information?

Only by guessing your usage based on the average kWh consumption e.g. are you a low, medium of high user. Unless you are either very low or very high, the same supplier is likely to be at the top of the price table.

Same goes for Energyhelpline, if you just click "I dont know my usage" at the bottom of the page it'll take you to their usage estimator, they have a detailed one on there that asks you what you use for the cooking & heating etc. then give you an estimated spend.

Might not be 100% accurate but better than guessing.

How to you come to that conclusion because you still have to guess from:

    High - large house
    Medium - house/large flat
Low - small flat/just used for cooking

Thats if you dont use the detailed estimator.

Just click on the "detailed estimator" tab and it asks you questions regarding the size of the property, what you use for heating cooking etc.

I have tried using the 'detailed estimator' and giving accurate input to this joke of a calculators questions, it estimates my annual consumption to be:

Current Gas Usage: 36667kWh per year

Current Electricity Usage: 7745kWh per year
