my brother and I both have eczema and it was worse when we were kids.
We both find that any ointments made us scratch even more and could only use creams from the doctors. I still cannot use ointments.
The best thing we ever used (and still do!) is Aveeno lotion, from the docs (you can also buy this from Boots I have noticed but it is expensive) I think its made by Johnson and Johnson as well.
I am allergic to E45 cream even though thats whats is designed for but I have very sensitive skin...I can't even use Baby Oil as it makes me scratch. I have also tried Lush products and I am allergic to them also. I think I have a reaction to Lanolin which doesn't help.0 -
The trouble with socks on hands is that they quickly learn to pull them off for a good scratch. With wetwrapping u can bandage the hands but I found it not necessary to as the itching was reduced.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Be careful when using the Steroid creams, if it isn't clearing up, don't be afraid to ask to be referred to a Dermatologist.
A friend of mine is back and forth the Drs all the time with her little boy and in the end she asked if she could see a Dermatologist - she has now been referred.
That Steroid cream was the only thing that works but it seems to really age the skin.:cool:0 -
I know its not the same, but my friends dd had chicken pox recently which really itched and was told to use bicarb in the bath, she said it stopped the scratching. don't know whether it would work for eczema? xIf marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed back out?:rotfl:0

Our DD had oilatum baths and creams at bedtime. We had the bath quite cool (obviously not too cool for a baby!) and this helped calm things down before her creams.
We also ensured she wasn't too hot in bed.0 -

I really regret using steriod creams on my DS. Its really thinned is skin and years on you can see his veins very clearly through his skin.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Hi i would try the halos and horns range of toiletries it was developed by a mum who's children suffered from eczema and it really helped as they don't contain any parabens or sls's. i buy mine from asda as i find it the cheapest there. hthtI don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
