Laptop crashed over week-end and had to reformat HDD and re-install XP Pro SP2. After doing this, in Device Manager have yellow exclamation marks next to the following: Base System Device (3 of them), Modem Device, SM Bus Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible).
I have a CD from Dell that says contains drivers but when I attempt to update drivers for these says it cannot find them on the CD.
Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1520.
Any help please?

You may have to "Browse" to the correct <D:> drive and then to the correct folder containing the files. Or try the Dell web site0

Tried both of your suggestions already - no joy.0

So download the drivers from the Dell support site then. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

All the answers are on this or your other thread.
Have a go at telling us what you are doing once you have the drivers downloaded (it may help us to help you!)
All the Dell drivers download as executables.
Once you have ran them, they will unpack into a folder
C:\Dell\Drivers.....
Once you have ran (unpacked) them, you will still need to update the drivers either by running another .exe file (possibly Setup.exe) in the unpacked folder (e.g C:\Dell\Drivers\Audio) to update the drivers.
Or you do it through Device Manager, right click on the yellow exclamation mark, then browse to the relevant folder (C:\Dell\Drivers\Chipset)0 -
Okay - installed several drivers and looks like all the yellow exclamation marks have gone - thank you. Only minor thing is that the touchpad still seems hyper sensitive and I can't see anything in Control Panel to adjust it. Is it somewhere else or do I still need another driver?0

It's normally in the Mouse applet in Control Panel as a default but most manufacturers do have their own utilities for touchpads.0
