Insurance for Violin worth £750

Hello all, :hello:
I'm trying to find insurance for a violin worth £750. I've contacted a local broker who says that I could add it to my present household insurance as that would entitle me to "cover away from home" which is what it would fall under.
However, I'm really looking for a separate policy as if there is a claim, my household insurance will go up. I'd prefer a separate policy as they would probably cover it even if it is lost while not strictly locked away, i.e. in a music hall or left in a locker room. It's only being taken between our home and a local school.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know - I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
CC

Got to go alone with Jim Arnolds advice. We've never had to claim, but they're used to insuring musical instruments. A friend dropped his bow which broke, and had no problems, they paid for the repair, and also he got money for the decrease in capital value.
We've also found them very easy to deal with, a quick phonecall or email being all that necessary when we've had to add instruments and remove after selling when upgrading.
They will need a valuation though. If the violin was bought through a shop they will normally provide an insurance valuation which is normally higher than the current price, we've normally emailed the instrument shop and asked them to email the insurers with the valuation, but keep us on copy.
Also does the bow need itemising seperately on the policy? Case can also be about £100. So make sure you get it all insured.0 -
I have made a claim with allianzcornhill and they were very prompt and efficient.Torgwen..........

What is their excess and does the renewal premium remain the same if a claim is made?
Also, I've seen the option on their site to insure the violin, bow and case separately which doesn't affect the premium of £30. The £30 seems to be a minimum premium as I added a few more things on and it didn't increase...
