They will still credit check you both, and a link will be created between you which may affect her getting credit in the futureKavanne

on a joint bank account, both parties are equal.. there is no 'main one ' as you are both jointly and severally responsible for the a/c.
Have you obtained copies of your credit files to see what the problems are?
Trying to get a joint account will probably damage her credit record.0 -
I agree with Clapton, it might enable you to get a current account but it might hurt her credit score

Clapton, when I opened my joint acct. with my partner at Halifax (both credit records are impeccable so no problems) they said he was the 'first account holder', like first on the application, which I thought was a bit weird, and they ended up creating a 2nd customer number for me which meant I couldn't add the acct. to my online banking! Sorted in 5 mins but a bit strange.Kavanne

interesting... I've not come across that before. Seems odd if you can't use online banking with it though.0 -
I can now, but Halifax messed it up by inputting his details first and then mine, so it was like we were both new customers even though I already had accounts. They offered him a CC too but not me and said it was because he was the first named account holder... Maybe the advisor was just making it up!!interesting... I've not come across that before.
