Flying away from the nest....

Hi all,

I've been on this forum for a few months now and have seen the help you gave to my Mum (pepperjulie) when my Dad left and was hoping you could give a little advice to me too :D

For those of you that are aware, my Mum now has a boyfriend in Scotland and our house is up for sale as she is looking to move up there. Call me crazy but Scotland isn't for me. So I'm looking to move down to the lovely South coast to live near my darling brother and his family.

I'm 18 and currently work as an Account Manager at British Gas Business earning £16000 a year, my initial idea was to find somewhere to rent, seeing as I'm useless with money (hence the reason I signed up on here :rotfl: ) I've decided that at this moment in time it's not a sensible option for me. My brother has spoken to his very lovely Mummy-In-Law (my 2nd Mum) and she has said she will gladly have me and basically that my bed is ready for me when I need it and I'm more than willing to give her £50pw board.

I'm hoping to be gone by mid-august and wave goodbye to Leicester, my friends, the remaining of my family (Nan + Grandad, Aunties, Uncles + Cousins) and my job :T hehe. I'm just looking for a little advice on A) finding a job which is of same/near as pay to what I am on at the moment....I have experience in Estate Agency, Conveyancing, Telesales, Dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis and SAP computer programmes and B) As much as I love my brother's Mummy-In-Law to pieces I don't want to stay with her forever and hope that by the beginning of 2009 I will have a flat for my puppy and I.

As I have already said I am not the greatest at saving money, so any advice on saving it (whether it be setting up a savings account etc) would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading my ramble and I look forward to reading your replies

Is it possible to get a transfer with BG? Maybe a slightly diffferent job but at least with continuity of employment...not sure if they have offices in other parts of the country. Good luck anyway I am sure you will get something.

  • Thank you, I've already looked into this and sadly the most southern office BG has is in Staines.
I have a seen a few jobs I like the look of, it's just a case of updating my CV, taking a week off work and heading down there for some job interviews I think.
