Can you leave the CSA

I am asking on behalf of a friend as I do not know the answer and I thought someone here might.

My friend was on IS so had to involve the CSA she has now started work and to be honest the CSA have been nothing but trouble so she would like to ditch them and come to an arrangement with her ex. Things are amicable and trust is not an issue.

Anyone able to shed any light

Thanks

LM

Yes you can - my hubby pays his CSA straight into his exes account, the CSA are just there in the background :)

What do you mean, they are there in the background?

How do you cease using them.

    Thanks

If it is all amicable and no DEO in place or any nonsense ... then you can just request that the money goes straight into the PWC's account.

    My husband pays money direct.

I contacted the CSA as his representative, to inform them that his bank account had changed... it didn't matter to them, as they were not collecting the payments from him... so I had to set up the standing order myself between the accounts.

I hope this makes sense.. !

By them being in the background, I just mean there is a case there.. mainly for the PWC really so that she can make checks on his income and get him reassessed :)

We never hear from them and nor does she.

    I hope this helps.

So they will still keep tabs on his income for her even though she is not using them to collect the money

Well yes, but only she is likely to request a reassessment - unless his income drops and he should be paying less.

If all is amicable, just ask her to ring them up and tell them she no longer requires their services now as she is working.

They don't keep tabs on his income really, in amicable cases, they only go off what he willingly provides.. with a few exceptions.

Problem is - unless the PWC keeps very detailed records of what payments are rec'd, and is happy to share these with the CSA, then the paying parent can be pursued relentlessly by the CSA for moneys already paid.......There is personal experience here!

I would not trust the CSA any further than I could move Mount Everest! But once with them, it is much easier to leave everything via them, unless you have a lot of spare time and unlimited patience.........
