Hi All,
First of all....I'm sorry if this post doesn't belong here but I didn't know where else to post
I'm after a bit of advice on how to proceed in the next 12 months.
The short story is:
Me and My girlfriend are now in London, both working and hoping to get on a property ladder.
The problem, is that we are not British Citiziens (I'm EU while she is NOT), we have been in the country for about 8 months.
We are building up my credit history (because I'm the one that earns more) and we are saving a few quids.
Now, the questions are:
1- How long it takes to build a decent credit history? (We got bills, joint accounts, overdraft (HSBC), electoral register and waiting for credit card).
2- To be realistic, how much will be the deposit requested to people like us?
3- How much shall we expect to get for a morgage? 4x salary? (we are hoping for a 4.5-5ish this because I couldn't find many 2bedrooms/decent area for less than 200k)
Thank you

You are an EU citizen, but not a UK citizen, is that right? What is your GF's immigration status? Is she here as an unmarried partner of an EU citizen?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

You are correct. I'm EU, she is here on a EEA Family Member Permit as my un-married partner (visa valid for 5yrs).

Not sure how you will get on voters, but there you go.0

Sounds as if the immigration status is all sorted, then.
Lenders are, in my clients' experiecnes, getting more touchy about short residence periods. For a more definite answer, I'd try on the mortgage board here at MSE, where loads of mortgage advisors hang out.
In terms of credit rating, you are doing all the right things, keep going! It is likely prices will fall in London over the next year or two anyway....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I've asked, I've filled two forms and I was on it :-)
Eu passport holders can ask to vote for Local and European Election.
