Help - water spilt on electric heater!

My electric heater has just had half a vase of water spilt onto (and into) it. I have turned off the heater and wiped most of the water off. I got a slight electric shock when wiping water from the front. It is an old brick type heater. What should I do now? Will it be okay to let it dry out for a couple of days and turn it back on again?
Thanks for any advice!
