There have also been a good few complaints and posts reported recently for chat and also the way some people word their posts regarding gwp's and using points off old advantage cards etc so we all need to watch what we are doing.
Hi CPG and everyone,
Just my 2 cents concerning this issue (I do love to share my thoughts on this) and don't get me wrong I have NEVER complaint about a post here.
Concerning complaints about chat: I've been annyoned in the past and expressed here in this forum, but I realize this is how things work: the friendlier the thread is, the more people are eager to come back, the more people take part, the more likely they are to go out of their way to help others, look for glitches and report them!! so we all learn a lot more from a lot of stories. However there is a level of chat acceptable and another one that does not allienate everyone else. Just a few weeks ago, the thread was growing at incredible speed and it was mostly nonsense chat and the discussion of too-much-chat came up, I remember cos I was involved in it and there were very few people posting. Now normality seems to be back. So moderation seems to be the word.
For those who complain about too much chat even with moderation, this is not your usual thread where people post a deal and that's that. If you want this, there is a thread at PTS which is very inactive in comparison!! The key here is RECIPROCITY: if you get something form nice people, who give something back and everyone is better off.
And if you're just lurking and not posting, it actually serves you right that you have to put up with the chat!! That's your price for sharing such great bargains!! and CPG goes to a lot of trouble to update the first posts, so why do people even report the chat??
Abuse, legalities: The second part of CPG sentence is different in my opinion (gwp, points from old cards, etc). Boots have routinely glitches that we discover and use to our advantage, and we don't know if they are aware or not. But there is something as ABUSE.
We have read reports of people being identifyed by their usernames in store (it was actually a laugh, but it might not have been. Imagine if she was too embarassed to go back to that boots??), people getting their cards apprehended for abusive use of vouchers not in their names. And to make matters worse, yesterday I actually read in tripadvisor that one hotel was suing posters for posting negative opinions on TA. Remember the policeman a few months ago, who was fired for abusing the tesco clubcard points scheme - it's not that what he did was illegal, if I remeber correctly, but his employer thought it was abuse and thus not moral!!
So we need to be careful with what we do (BUT that is our own business) and about what we post (that can be this forums business and can have implications for Martin). Let me just give one example of something I don't agree with: people getting a lot of NC bags for free and then bragging about it in here. The more we abuse a glitch the less likely it will be another one in the future, so we all loose out. For example, the parenting club of which I am not a member, I am sorry to sound self-righteous, but the abuse of the system will lead to the disappearance of the good offers and personally I think a pregant mother appreciates getting free goodies for herself and her baby, so by abusing it we are in fact making it disappear in the short run.
Look at me write!! if I had such commitment to my dissertation!!;)
Summary of the above:
- moderation in the chat
- chat makes people share more, so everyone who bothers to share wins
- abuse is different matter as it can have legal consequences for the person and even martin lewis
sorry if I came across as self-righteous, but I love this thread and every once in a while I hate to read some of the posts here, where people are blatantly abusing an offer and in the end making our smallish glitches look like criminal activities.
Now off to find the ellusive med set!!0 -
Off to Boots today. Going to visit my Mum in Warrington and we're going for a bit of retail therapy, it's not my usual store and it's decent size so will look out for Med GWP. I doubt there'll be any left and I haven't got the Med Pregnancy range BOGOF voucher so it'll have to be a points spend (boohoo
) as I'm skint! lol
I'll post a pic later if I find any goodies!:smileyhea Proud Mummy of 2 :smileyheaTotally addicted to Boots glitches & the Next sales!0 -
not a single NC bag left at the Arnison Centre. SA said they are waiting for more stock as they haven't been sent enough:D I said they are selling well aren't they she said you only need to buy one 99p item to get the free bag - so it is now common knowledge amonst the SAs. Not sure if they know about more than one bag with a 99p item:rotfl:saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

I have bought myself some lovely things with my pts that I would never have treated myself to with actual money. The pts take away the 'guilt' of pampering ourselves. (we mums do beat ourselves up don't we?)
Also if it gives us pleasure or a buzz collecting them, thats an extra bonus. The fact that a lot of people don't 'get it' doesn't worry me. I don't 'get' a lot of things people do, but to each their own. As for needing counselling, forget it. If you went, I bet you would end up with the counsellor 'hot footing' it down to Boots to try it out. Just think about the envy of most of the SA's when they see our bargains, or AC cards with lots of points. Dont worry about what you missed out on in the past, it's gone and you can't change it.
Just think how lucky you are now to have this knowledge and skill to amass a load of free or money off goodies. It's everyone else who is missing out IMO. :j :j :j :j :j :j :j'They only had one cow!'0 -
bunbun2, did you see any Med GWP's anywhere on your travels?0

My hubby thinks it's all nuts, but he's very supportive. After I took that picture (which was just what I'd accumulated in a week or so, not all my stash by half), I was thinking I really need to be more careful what I buy as I don't need or want most of this and have to find people to offload it on -- and they may not need or want much of it, either! And he said, keep Bootsing, you enjoy it. Mind you, I probably spend a little more than he realizes, but he has a general idea. He's a doll! I still need to rein it in a bit as I really don't need or have room for most of this stuff (well, at least not room for more of the stuff), but it's nice to know he's not freaking out over my Bootsing, lol.
Bootsing also gives him things to tease me about. Yesterday I tried the Naked Sugar Maple mask that was on clearance for 33p -- he said "Your face is melting! What kind of Ark of the Covenant business is this?" (referring to Raiders of the Lost Ark when the faces melted). After it settled on my face, he said I looked like a glazed donut. And I did, lol.

Morning cpg.
I've probably been reported for being soooo off topic, so apologies for that.
This is just a thought, but after the 6 pages that were created by that Boots employeeI quickly realised that it was too much. So, (and this is going against everything I believe in about edited posts) as the thread seems to run smoothly without too much moderating, could we delete our posts that clearly aren't relevant? To clear up some space?
