Single Or Twinset Dect Phones?

I was searching for the BT Synergy 4100 single unit phone but found that there wasn't much of a price difference between the single set and the twin set.
I was wondering whether it would be worth buying the twinset and keep one handset in reserve (as I only need one really) for spares/repairs.
My question is, would the twinset handsets be equivalent (i.e I would be able to use other in case of breakdown of first) or is there a system of one unit of the twinset being the main base unit?
Anyone have any ideas/thoughts? Much appreciated.

The second handset would be identical to the first so would 'work' as a spare (provided you didn't leave the batteries to die in it).
The only difference would be that the second handset would normally be charged on a separate charging pod instead of on the base - but it could be charged on either.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
^^^ Thanks!
Just another question though, if the base went bust, would I be stuck even though I'd have a spare charging pod and handset? Is a working base unit absolutely essential for the phone to work properly?0 -

As far as I am aware one unit is always the base while the other functions only as a charger. You can keep the second handset to replace the other when buttons wear out0 -

Yes. The second handset and charging pod would be useless if that happened - the working base unit is essential (it's the radio transmitter and receiver).Curlywurly wrote: »Just another question though, if the base went bust, would I be stuck even though I'd have a spare charging pod and handset?
