Is boxing classed as a bank holiday, we made a local call on boxing day and we were charged for it, i always thought boxing day like today was a bank holiday which meant calles would be free, also a national call was also made for which we were charged for, we're currently with virgin media, does it vary from 1 provider to another regarding charging of calls on bank holidays

Boxing Day is a Bank Holiday if it doesn't fall on a Saturday or Sunday.

However, unless they announce special offers, most telcos charge standard call rates Monday to Friday throughout the year (that includes today).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Yeah, many many years ago.

We first moved into our own home in 1996 and back then Bank Holiday Monday calls weren't classed as the same as weekends, so it's been at least since 1996 that they have been charged as normal.

Family were on BT as no cable in their area and they too didn't get cheaper calls on Bank Holiday Monday.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I'm with cable for calls and was originally back in 1996 - They aren't cheaper on Bank Holiday Monday, yes I've had a BT line between 2003 and 2006 and they are the same. Was VoIP only for a while, now back with cable as I don't pay for line rental or call package and it's the same as between 1996 - 2003, Bank Holiday Monday calls cost the same as any other weekday.

A few years ago, our company got weekend rates on bank holidays with Cable & Wireless. Probably didn't cost them much because hardly anybody was at work on the bank holiday.

and when that happens, the following Monday is classed as a bank holiday
