Help - Havard refing when complicated.

Hi,

Nothing to do with money saving apart from maybe helping me get a decent degree :j

I have a load of refs and I dont know what order to put them in when it gets complicated...

ie ...

Lagerspetz, K. M. J., Björkqvist, K. & Peltonen, T. (1988). .....
and
Lagerspetz, K.M.J and Bjorkqvist, K (1994) ....

as the fisrt two are the same name so how do I work out which order to place them in my refs?? does the yr preveil or the name ...

also :

Martin, J. and Ross, H. (2005)

Ma, X. Stewin, L. L. Mah, D. L (2001)

which would come first?

When the same person wrote all different articles in different years - do you just order them earliest first??

i'd be really grateful for a response if anyone has any idea - we are supposed to be following Havard refs.

Thanks!!

The second one would come first as 'P' for 'Peltonen' is after nothing. You take each name in turn.

    also :

    Martin, J. and Ross, H. (2005)

    Ma, X. Stewin, L. L. Mah, D. L (2001)

The second one as you start with the first letter and work through them all, and so 'r' is after nothing. You would only consider the second author if the first author was the same in each ref. or had the same name.

When the same person wrote all different articles in different years - do you just order them earliest first??

Yes, and if they wrote several in the same year, you would use a,b,c... to distinguish between them.

i'd be really grateful for a response if anyone has any idea - we are supposed to be following Havard refs.

    Thanks!!

I hope that makes sense? Shout if not.

Yes that is a good guide, and one of the two my uni recommends.

It doesn't go into the detail the OP wanted though unfortunately, as I looked before I posted.
