According to Channel I have signed up to some agreement to buy six more dvds from them. I got one today of their choice (which I do not want) because I havn't ordered anything from them in the last 3 months.
I had no idea that I was agreeing to this. All I remember is ording 2 dvd's for £10. I do not remember agreeing to anything else. The thing is because it was all done on-line I have nothing in writing and because it was so long ago I no longer have the orders.
Has anyone else fallen for this ? Have I missed something?
I would be grateful if anyone has any advice as to how I should deal with this.

I had a very silimar experience with a book club. I fell for a too good to be true offer where i got 5 fab books for something like £1! Unfortunatly I didnt read the small print that said that I must buy a further five books in one year. Could you have missed the terms and conditions?
I rang the book club when I discovered this and explained ... The lady was very helpful and said that I must buy the five books but she told me about a set of childrens books that they had on offer at £1. I then bought five sets (made great xmas gifts) and was free from the "contract".
Good luck!

Probably knowing my luck.
I wonder as I haven't signed anything whether I have to go along with it.0 -
Unfortunately you ticked a box agreeing that you'd read the Terms and conditions.0

Your probably right, but usually I am very careful to read the T&C, which leads me to wonder if I did and If I did was it clear at the time? Do you think I should ask them to provide evidence of this ?0 -
Channel wrote:The Channel Agreement - what you have to do
As a Channel customer, you have to buy at least six Products at the Channel Price from Channel ex works in Jersey.
You must buy at least one of those six Products every three months after you join. If you fail to fulfil this agreement by not selecting a Product in any one period of three months, we will recommend a Channel Selection to you that we think matches your preferences in music or film. If you don't want to receive this Channel Selection, simply buy any other title from our huge range within the specified time and we will cancel it for you. If we send the Channel selection, your account will then be charged accordingly.
If you don't buy six Products at the Channel Price within the time period set out in paragraph 4.1 above, or if you cancel your Channel account before you've bought six Products at the Channel Price, you'll be liable to an Agreement Fee of £25. This covers the value of the discount received for your account Opening Offer plus the costs associated with setting up and maintaining your Channel account.
NB: The Opening Offer, free items, sale or promotional price or loyalty price products don't count towards the Channel Agreement.
If you opened a Channel account via a "free Products plus Vouchers" offer, Products you buy with the Vouchers won't count towards the Channel Agreement. If you then don't fulfil the Channel Agreement or cancel your account before buying six Products at the Channel Price within the agreed Period, you'll be liable to an Agreement Fee of £25. This covers the value of the discount received for your account Opening Offer plus the costs associated with setting up and maintaining your Channel account.

Exactly the same thing happened to me...
Anyone receiving offers from Channel should just ignore them...
You have been warned...

Just came across this thread after a search - A DVD turned up today in me ex's name, and on further investigation it seems that she hadn't realised it was a club, and had created an account because she wanted to buy a couple of dvds (presumably they were cheaper than amazon). In the end, she didn't purchase, closed her browser and thought nothing of it - until this arrived today.
We guessed the login details correctly for the site, and it seems they have previously sent 2 other dvds - which we know she wouldn't have ordered because we already had them at the time of the order. Strangely though, although they were apparently despatched back in June, neither have ever arrived here - hence why only now do we know about it.
Anyone have any advice on how to deal with them? Is there any way of successfully challenging them?0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Well, because I'm more inclined to be capable of getting a result - I don't mind dealing with things, whereas she tends to just accept things more readily.0 -
I have done exactly the same thing.
I can't remember anywhere it stating that you'd be tied in. I wish I could find the link I followed from this site for the offer. Whoever put the link said no strings attached if my memory serves. Have tried searching but to no avail??? Would be nice to find a definite answer as not looking forwars to paying for overpriced dvd's for a year or whatever or paying the £25 get out of the contract fee!
Any help appreciated.0
