Hi All!! i need some advice please! i owe the DWP £5000 and i rang them and they said the min they would accept each mth for that amount would be £266, i am only getting the £50 each week as i am a carer at home for my mum, i have savings tho and would use if mum needs to go into a home for any reason because the cost would be around £400 each week, and i may have to leave the house if the council take it for mums costs if i dont pay.
Is their any ruling on the amount of savings i have and how much to pay them back even if only getting carers allowance please.
Thanks For Any Help!!

Hi Cristo,
Welcome to MSE.
There are a few issues raised here - does your mum own her home, and if so, do you live there, and how old are you? Also, how much savings do you have and what is the overpayment from?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi dmg24!!
Thanks for the Welcome and the Reply!!
Yes mum owns the house, i am her carer of 6 years and live their with her she needs 24/7 care, i am 56 now, and overpayment was for income support, and the savings are £28,000 now.
Also i was told about the costs by the council if mum went into care a few mths after i started the caring role, so i sold of some of my belongings, and saved all my money, because was worried about being thrown out and all the storage costs of the house belongings and where i would live.
The council have been looking into this for 4 mths now because one of the finance officers says i should never of been told this and been put under this sort of pressure, because at first i was told they would take the house and i would be asked to leave.
Thanks Again for Your Help!!0
