LA lied to me-I FEEL CONNED

Hello,
Further to my recent post, I decided to look into the letting agent a bit more to see if I could complain to a body they said they were registered with-AFTA, now I can find no such body anywhere and I feel conned. I specifically asked the guy if he was registered with ARLA and he said in quote "no we are registered with AFTA". Is there anything I can do about this bold faced lie.

It may be that this is a Lettings Association local to your area - for example in South Wales there is ALMA.

Why not just ask the LA for further information - if you're making a complaint they'd get to hear about it anyway. Iif there is some kind of code of conduct for the relevant association it would normally include a couple of lines about giving details of the complaints procedure to anyone who asks for a copy.

get it in writing, some way or another.

he could deny ever saying that to you -

not sure what you can do when you get this anyway but you would be in a better position whatever it is!
