TRAVEL Inurance - question to do with pre-existing medical condition

Hi
I take statins - they work too as my cholesterol is down to a healthy level <5. So, in theory, my level is lower than average and more or less in line with guidance.
I guess that this a pre-existing condition?
I take it then I will not be covered for stuff related to this?
Any experience of similar situation anyone?
Any advice?

Hi there
I take it you were put in statins by your doctor - is this because you are in a high risk category for heart disease or have had a heart attack? It may be worth you spending £30 or so getting a letter from your GP confirming exactly why you have been prescribed statins; that way, you are covering your own backside and telling your insurer the whole truth but also making sure that they are in a position to make an informed decision about cover. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

Yes, I had high cholesterol hence being put on statins - it's a genetic family thing.
But I'm pretty fit - did the London Marathon in April - had a full cardio check then and all was fine.
Will get a measure done next week so I can go with the very latest info.
Thanks for the reply.0 -
to be safe declare it using the insurers medical reference service, get a print out of the questionnaire you answered to make sure that your condition is marked INCLUDED in the cover.Hi

some will take you through the medical reference procedure, then cover you while excluding your condition or reducing cover in the small print.
also combinations of conditions that alone are automatically covered render your policy invalid!0
