Motor Legal Protection - stand alone??

Unlike Ann1984s thread I'm not asking whether MLP is value or worth having. In this thread I'm assuming that it is and it's wanted.
Myself and my wife both have a car - always have had. A year ago I went self employed and now have a van as well.
I'm not a limited company so all insurances etc are in my name, ie personal.
I've recently renewed both the insurances on my car and van and the wifes is due in a few weeks.
Now, I have always had MLP (used to be known as uninsured recovery cover some years ago) and so has the wife. I also have it on the van.
What I've just realised is that I'm paying out about £25 per MLP attached to each insurance policy, ie about £75 per year for three policies all the same!!!!
So what I want to know is: is it possible to buy one joint stand alone MLP policy for me and the wife so I can ditch the individual MLPs on each car insurance policy? If so, will it save me money?
Anyone able to help?

There used to be a firm in Ipswich called "Town & Country Ltd" who provided motorists legal protection cover via insurance brokers. They now appear to be called "WNS Assistance" and their website is here:
http://www.claimsolver.com/
I always thought their MD (who stood for the Referendum Party in the 97 elections) was a bit of a self-riteous plonker, but that was because I had to listen to him drone on about his political bias. I'm sure he thought I was a poorly educated jumped up little twit, but I'm not going to hold that against him!!
I've no idea why a company called WNS Assistance has a website called "Claimsolver", but then I'm not a multi millionnaire and the ex Referendum Party Plonker is. Go figure!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0
