travel insurance - claiming because of sick child???

Hiya

This is a bit long winded. A group of us including myself want to go to Benidorm to celebrate our 30th's in October for three days. One of our party has an a extremely ill child, this was always been the case since birth, but she wants to come too. However, she may have to cancel at any point depending on the health of her child. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will may out if she was to cancel or do you just get normal holiday insurance. We are just ringing around at the momemt but normally get much advice from forums.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately I don't think you will find a company willing to pay out when the child is already ill just now.

I hope you all get get your holiday though, especially your friend as it sounds like she deserves a good break!

She would have to declare that she has a sick child that may increase the risk of her having to cancel.

The insurer then has 3 options:
    a) refuse to insure for cancellation due to child's illness
    b) agree to insure but increase the premium (due to increased risk)
    c) accept the risk and insure at normal price.
