New Gas Boiler

I have a Baxi 105 boiler that has been giving problems of and on for a while

I think it's just time to dig deep into my pocket and get a new super efficient boiler

I've also been keen on Baxi, but with my current one being baxi, I've lost a bit of confidence in them

If money was no object ...

What would readers recommend as being the top 3 combi / condensing boilers

thanks

The SEDBUK site https://www.sedbuk.com gives the efficiency of boilers if that is your criteria.

The most important criteria for most of us is their reliablability and that is impossible to find out with any degree of certainty.

I might have a 5 year old Baxi that has given no problems, but newer models from Baxi might turn out to be rubbish; and of course vice versa.

Good morning: There are horror stories floating around on MSE and other forums about boilers from every manufacturer. A boiler is only as good as its installation and annual servicing: the key is to select a boiler with the longest parts and labour warranty and have it installed by a CORGI recommended to you by a source you trust. The CORGI should follow Best Practice and install the appliance according to manufacturer's recommendations. For example my OH always powerflushes the system, adds inhibitor and installs a scale inhibitor(recommended by many manufacturers if you live in a hard water area) and a Boiler Buddy. He currently installs Vaillants but will be adding Viessmann to his preferred manufacturer list next month as he will be able to offer a 5 year parts and labour warranty as a Viessmann trained CORGI. Over the last 30+ years he has installed products from almost every manufacturer (often at a client's request/not his recommendation) and none of them have been immune to faults.

We're in the same boat. We've just been quoted £3905.23 by British Gas, we're horrified!
  • Recently fitted a Baxi 105se boiler, have just found out that I need to replace the PCB at a cost of £110+vat!! even then there is no guarantee that this will solve the problem. Have read many a review complaining about these boilers and Baxi in general, the consensus being that the baxi 105se are of poor quality, parts and Baxi offer a terrible customer service..I would avoid at all costs!!
