Help with new LCD TV

Bought a 32" Sony a month ago and have noticed that there is a gap between the screen and cabinet at bottom left of screen. While it doesn't effect the picture i have not noticed this on any other LCD products I already have (pc monitor etc). Do I have cause for a replacement under warranty?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean that the tv does not fit the cabinet, or that there is a black band actually on the tv screen?Gone ... or have I?0

The problem is the plastic cabinet doesn't fit tight to the screen panel like other lcd's i have. If I press the plastic cabinet it flexes toward the screen and the flexes back. Just doesn't feel very well built imo. Nothing wrong with picture.0

if it was a cheap make I'd say live with it, but a SONY, i would expect better quality. Get it replaced.0

Just called Dixons where I bought it from and because I have not reported it within 28 days (DOP was 22/4/08) they say it's nothing to do with them and its Sony's problem.
I have a Hannspree monitor which is far better build quality than this:mad:0 -

That is wrong!!! Your contract is with the shop. Under the Sale of Goods Act, it is up to them to deal with this.
If Dixons wont play fair. Contact your local Trading Standards (in your local phonebook). They can advise you what to do (they can even help you with the wording of any letter you need to send). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Gonna call Dixons customer support tomorrow. Picture is excellent but Very disapointed with the quality of a "Sony' product. Seems to me all lcd are coming from the same factories with diferant badges on them. :mad:0

Sony KDL-32S3000U0

If it's not actually a fault then you only have 'a reasonable period of time' in which to reject the goods - something that 28 days (for a TV) is really far in excess of. If this had been something that had developed or suddenly appeared it would be different but I could see a bit of an uphill struggle against a company that's part of the DSG.0

You may have thought you were joking but actually (like with plasma panels) there are only a few big joint venture companies producing the lcd panels.
IIRC, Sony are in a J-V with Sharp for their panels. As they are (probably) no longer producing the screens in their own factories (like they were with their tube televisions) it wouldn't surprise me too much if the set was assembled by a 3rd party too.
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
