Any advice on how to remove Hypericum and Sedum.

Moved here 18 months ago. Waited to see what came up in garden last year.
Removed a couple of trees and had a general tidy up as we were busy inside.

We would like to get rid of the Hypericum before it spreads much further. However the Sedum has grown quite tall and is smothering some of the shrubs it is growing round, i.e Acer, Gorse, Redcurrant Bush small Holly, and a couple we havent identified yet, there is also a Pear Tree in the Border.

What's the best way to remove them. The soil is heavy clay so digging is a problem. I realise that it may take a time to get rid of them completely.

Thanks

What kind of Sedum is causing this sort of trouble? They are quite fleshy plants that pull up easily and don't usually grow tall enough to smother shrubs. Any pictures?
