Delete and restart MS Money

I have a copy of MS Money I put it on my computer last year and stopped using it after a couple of months. I want to wipe all the info and start again. I have deleted it and restarted it but its remembered all the info.....any help there as what to do.

All I want is to load it on to the computer as if starting from scratch.

Thank you I am really at a loss of what to try....

When you install commerical packages like MS Money, they tend to hide encrypted keys deep into the registry which are created using your system specification and hold info like date/time the software was first installed. When you use their traditional uninstaller, it will leave these keys installed for future reference. This is to prevent people simply reinstalling software to renew software licenses.

Best way round is generally a full reformat or perhaps taking snapshots of the system settings immediately before and after the program is installed.. to see exactly what registry changes have been made so when you wish to reinstall, you can completely reverse the installation and remove all settings.

Saying that, Microsoft have plenty more tricks up their sleeves to prevent software piracy.. since its costing them millions each year. :)

  • Or you could archive the info it has still there and start a new year?
  • Thanks for all the info...
Have deleted all the files and archived the rest. Silly me thinking I could just clear it and reinstall it.
