Morning all and welcome to the newbies (I know I'm a bit behind there!) :)

Hope you feel better soon bella... I can't imagine having a bad head etc for that long, it sounds terrible. Get lots of rest and don't worry about us lot!

I'm off for my second lot of traction on my neck soon this morning so not at work - don't want to go as it always hurts... it's annoying coz I'm quite an active person and love outdoorsy stuff and have some jetskiing booked soon (with my big snap win) and I don't want to miss out OR end up in loads of pain. It's frustrating coz the doc reckons my pain is caused by physical tension caused by anxiety - so it's my own fault then. Known about the anxiety for a few months but still coming to terms - but now I know it has caused some actual physical problem with my spine I can't believe it! Any suggestions gratefully received!

PS - sorry to be personal but you guys seem to offer sensible advice so I thought I'd give it a try!!

    Hi Splodz :hello: ,

I know exactly what you mean about the anxiety. As if its not bad enough on its own it hits you with loads of physical problems too. Yours is your spine and mine is my stomach. I've been having panic attacks for quite some time now and anxiety attacks in between. This has left me with terrible stomach/digestive tract problems. It started with reflux, developed into GERD and I also have an ulcer. I am very limited to the treatment I can receive because I'm still breastfeeding my youngest and I'm sensitive to many antibiotics. So I can't get the ulcer treated and just have to live with it. I drink gallons of Gaviscon and take loads of Deflatine etc and have to be really, really carefull about what I eat. The positive side-effect is that I've lost 3 stone over the past 3 months. My mum's sudden death 6 weeks ago didn't help!!

Anyway, I have found help through MSE (brilliant for taking you mind off things and chatting to other MSE'rs) and another website called "No More Panic" here's a link. They have helped enormously. Controlling the anxiety is the key, and I haven't quite mastered that yet, but I'm trying!!

Hey toomanykids and thanks for your reply and sharing your experience - I just had a quick look at that site and it seems to be quite a resource.

I had the traction again and it was def a bit easier than last week - my arm feels like jelly though! I think I 'just' need to think about my priorities etc, oh and sit up straight when sat at the computer!

  • Am off for a occ health appointment in a bit - i am already back at work but i have to tick all the boxes so i need to see a doctor who isn't my doctor just an occ health doctor so that i have satisfied all the requirements -seems very ridiculous seeing as my doc has already written a letter and signed me back on and i've already seen occ health and been back at work 3 weeks - i wonder why i bother!!

Yea I'm seeing occ health too, which I thought was a bit odd seeing as my doc is a medical doc and all that rather than employed by work! I had two weeks off back at end April when they said anxiety was the problem and saw the doc again before I came back. I hope your work is listening though like I think mine are trying too - although I reckon it might just be them being selfish (they don't want me to have more time off as it costs them!).

  • Well occ health doctor was ok but is not my actual medical doctor so it seems a bit ridiculous and yes they can suggest lots of things for me and work but at the end of the day i still have to negotiate what i am doing with work so it seems a bit silly to put occ health into the equation as it just means i have to have another meeting with work to discuss etc... so tiresome!!

All this red tape stuff does my head in!!

Hi Bella really sympathise with you. I get Cluster Headaches (also known as clock work and suicide headaches). I found a website called ouch, and i think one thats called clusterheadaches.com, but they do talk about migraines as well ( didnt realise there were so many others ), the good thing for me is cos they,re called clockwork as well I know roughtly when I,m going to get my next bout (mid next year(had them last year)) With theese buggars you cant sit still and want to pound your head into the wall, but I can get oxygen now and that helps, but it was good to find the websites. They give advise on diet, things not to eat etc. I really hope you feel better soon
