I hope no member of your family ever becomes so ill they cannot work and has to deal with your opinions making them feel guilty on top of everything else, even for a short period of time.

Fact is, if they're capable of entering 100 competitions a day, they seem capable of basic data admin / data input, rather than spending my tax money.

Ooh how very dare they... I'm guessing from that insensitive comment that absolutely no-one in your family or circle of friends has the cheek to be spending your tax money? I highly doubt that is the case...

99% of the people on this forum enter comps as a hobby, not as a means of making a living. If we thought of it like that, I doubt many of us would do it... the prize amount we get from comps probably wouldn't even cover the minmum wage if we were to break down the hours we put into it (depressing, but true). It might surprise you to hear that many actually find it an enjoyable thing to do, and a welcome break from family life or work.

I'm sad to be lowering myself to your level by responding but I couldn't just let that go by.

Anyway, was only asking if it's really worth all the spam and potential security risks with your personal informaiton :)

Got no quam with people who can afford not to work or who do it in their own time anyway :) Just not the lazy ones.

As one who is unable to work at the mo through illness, may I point out that I have been paying my taxes for the past 36 years so I don't think your contribution is being scrounged by me and I do resent being told I'm too lazy to work!! I think that may be down to my GP's opinion rather than yours :p

I work full-time and class competitions as a hobby for my spare time. I've just been given a promotion at work so entering comps has certainly not affected me getting ahead in my career. Entering competitions is meant to be fun, it shouldn't feel like it is work.

I also work in the evenings,,, and look after my kids during day
Maybe this sad as* should go sort out their own life before judging other
    people they dont know.....

    I just wanted to add:

I know a few people that cannot work due to being too ill, and it's definitely not just a case of being lazy. Two of my close family get physically exhausted just doing their food shopping for the week, due to having ME. It might sound impossible, and it's hard to have empathy when you've never seen or experienced such a thing, but it's the case for quite a lot of people, and they find life hard enough without insensitive comments about "laziness" - it's definitely not the easy way to live.

There are also people who have extreme agoraphobia or social disabilities such as autism or Asperger's, which means that they might be fit and healthy to work, but the social aspect of it all is something they just couldn't cope with. It's not their choice - I know people that would get a job in a heartbeat if they possibly could.
