  • Thank you Pobby, I totally agree, losing our business was as you say like loosing a child. We, like you invested so much, financially, making sacrifices and working so hard and long hours it also affected some of our relationships and our health but it was our dream. I am very pleased that you were able to move on and I really hope we can.

It does get better...... honest xxxx
You're handling it just as well as everybody else, typing out how you feel in a post on here, gets it out of your system. I'm sure a lot of people have done that to get some clarity.
I've put more than just my heart & soul into a business and more than I financially went BR for, it's not a nice place to be.
I lost what I started and it was my dream & watched others destroy it, but....... you will come to a point when you draw a firm line under it and move on. People have known about my troubles, but they will see me rise from the ashes.... in fact they saw it before I did ;-)
I'm just a little further down the road than you!!
All the best with the BI, just keep chipping away. Seriously, you will get there.

    Hi SW

A new day & hope you are feeling a little better today. Someone said to me recently to just accept the bad days when they happen & know that a good one will be along soon!

Thankfully you can post here & get those feelings `out there`..I could not imagine going through any of this without being able to share on this board.

    Hugs Angelx

    Days of "What next???"

Remember all the phone calls, the reminders, the threats, the worries, the panics, the sleepness nights, the tears - waking in the morning to a feeling of what else can go wrong?

... the days of "What next???"

Those days are behind you SW. It's not easy, I know that (been there), but there is a difference from those days.

Now it is time to look forward not backward ...

    - a time to say positively "OK, What's next?"
If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

  • I suppose when you feel so down its easy to forget just how far you have come on this roller coaster (thankyou again Dalip!), and also thankyou to MF for reminding me of the dreaded 'What Next Days'.

Diablobear, Im glad you have been able to move on and I will keep chipping away. nuttyp and angel thankyou for your kind words they really help.

I'm going for a long walk now with OH to blow some cobwebs off and hopefully sort my head out.

    Thanks again.

It is a very emotional time. For me it was doubly so as I had to use quite a lot of money that my late Mum had left to me to pay out on bills. That was soooo gutting and made me very depressed but hey some years later I have ``paid`` back that money to myself through a very fortunate work situation which through determination I was to make good. Sadly I feel that era is coming to an end but I am looking forward to moving on.

What I am saying is that you never know what good stuff may well be in store for you.

I'm very sorry to hear how you're feeling.
When you're at the bottom, the only way is up.
BR is pretty much a way of life now - well, it is for me - just under 2 months in.
I keep thinking that I'm BR during a very poor world-wide economic period, so If I'm going to be BR, it may as well be during the tough times for everybody. A bit selfish, but it makes me feel ok-ish about it.
I was once told that in America, if you've not been made BR at least once, you don't know the pain, and after, business is much more straightforward because people know you can be trusted not to make the same mistakes, because you know the pain, and you aren't going down that road again!
The light at the end of the tunnel may be a little dimmer than you'd like, but its still visible!
    Good luck!

Back in 2001 I ended up losing my business and divorced as well. I went bankrupt for in excess of 350k.
There were times when i felt so depressed and had no get up and go, but time is a great healer, and 4 years ago i set up my own business again, and now I am the happiest and most content I have ever been.

However i do think anyone who is bankrupt, needs to go through all the phases, until they see the light. Trust me it really does get better.
