Options ? GP won't sign gym referral letter

Hi all

Thanks for the advice, its been very helpful. I dont smoke and I do exercise for at least 30 mins 4 mornings a week and walk about 20 mins to the bus stop and back but I have a very sedentary lifestyle, so am trying to get more active. Also Im easily bored and already have slipped this week. I was hoping joining the gym would keep me motivated and I could use the personal trainer vouchers I got as a pressie.

I saw one of the docs yesterday and she claims she will find out for me and let me know. She didnt know anything about the rule but to be honest Im not holding my breath. Ive decided to call the primary care trust and question this decision, hopefully they will intervene.

That's maybe the figure you've been asked to aim at because of your diabetes, but seems quite a low reading to me!

Go to a different GP. As far as I am aware you can make an appointment to see any family doctor (even if you're not registered there) or, failing that, change surgeries.

PS - think I read the info on an NHS Direct leaflet. They should be able to advise - 0845 4647
