You don't say from which direction you're coming? If its Fife, come along passed Edinburgh Zoo on main road and take Murrayfield Avenue (just opp Eastern BMW garage at Roseburn) there's loads of free parking up there and takes approx 20 mins to walk to Princes Street. I do it 2 or 3 times a week, and its keeping me really fit!

depends on the time, getting busier there with the changes in parking enforcement around dalry/polworth
20 minutes to princess street? you must doddle along ;)
good bus service in edinburgh though so not a big hassle once parked up even its a bit out

Its now £1.10 but if you use the ticket machines on Princes Street (they may be other places too) you still pay £1 :)

Every machine i've used is still just a pound:D

  • Thank you for the info re- Edinburgh Park n Ride - much appreciated. Can you tell me if you can leave your car there overnight? Don't want to get clamped!

There's a car park on morrison st next to the conference centre that looks like it's free at the weekends. Theres a cabin where you pay during the week but it's always boarded up at the weekends. It's normally £8 a day i think so a nice little saver!! Alternatively, across the road on semple st there's an NCP car park, never used it so i don't know the prices but it's never full at the weekends from what I've heard

Car park on Morrison Street is not free at weekends :( It's now a Pay and Display, so don't think that the cabin is used at all now, but the car park is patrolled.....

On Sunday, Regent Road is free and within easy walking distance of Princes St. Anytime other than free parking Sundays and I park at Meadowbank and get the bus in for the last 10 mins of the trip.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
