Debt and Divorce

Hi there, :j
I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any advice?
My husband and I married in May 2005. The mortgage for the house we lived in was in his name as we bought the house about a year before we married. Due to major problems, we separated in the November of 2005.
As we have been separated for 2 and a bit years, I feel it is now time to move on with my life and get a divorce - I do not want anything to do with the house - it is a horrible rotting money pit where he is still living. The only problem I can see is the fact that I took out a loan with British Gas (please, no, don't hit me, I know I goofed there!) for £2000 worth of central heating system. Apart from going in at the dead of night and removing the boiler :A, where do I stand with this debt?
I had hoped to do the divorce thing on a shoe string as I still have debt of my own that I am trying to handle, has anyone any advice how I can keep the costs down as well? Oh, and he will NOT be contesting the divorce - he is quite amicable and there is no children involved.
Many thanks for all your help, :T
