Junk Mail

Options
Whilst having a telephone rant at Royal Mail customer services, on their geographical number (about 30 minutes using 18866 @ 3p :D ) this morning, about a junk mail issue and while "on a roll" I obtained this address from them.

If it's been posted before then my apologies for the duplication. However, for anyone fed up of receiving the various non address or name specific items of "junk" delivered directly by their postie and wishing to get it stopped it must be worth a try.

Comments

  • No, the address (part of RM) is for the leaflets and other NON ADDRESS SPECIFIC items (read my post properly!) delivered extra by RM.
MPS is for mail sent to a particular person and/or address and registering with them will not stop the deliveries I described.
My postie delivers, as well as "real" mail, various supermarket leaflets, insurance leaflets, hearing aid leaflets, postcards from various company's inviting a purchase, credit card invitations etc. Lots of it in non descript envelopes without a hint of the sender outside. This lot is also delivered to every house in the road so is not meant for one particular recipient. The postie's van is overloaded with this rubbish.

Oldage is correct, the tps and mps register will not stop your postie from delivering unaddressed junk mail.

But Oldage you forgot to give the address :wall: !

Nevermind, because you don't need the address, if you ask them on the phone they should have either took your details and sent you an application form for it to be stopped or put you through to someone who could do this. That's what happened to me anyway. I too gave them a bit of my mind that I shouldn't have to opt out, it should be opt in.

What about all the junk mail you get inside magazines? I think the worst offender is Sky Magazine (the one you get from Sky TV) on average this contains a dozen assorted advertising leaflets, including those where you scratch the panels and have to ring a premium phone-line just to find you have won a piece of crap jewellery. When my copy arrives, I take straight to the bin and empty all this waste-paper into it.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I hope that's the *recycle* bin you're talking about.
  • Can anyone give me the phone number or address to stop the "postie" giving me all this junk.

Sky Magazines have got to be up there in the top 3 offenders?

If I ever go to a shop for magazines etc, I give them a shake before I buy and leave the (usual) bumph on the shelves :)
