Driving Licence help!

I'm having a mini-disaster! I have just managed to secure a new job, and I'm over the moon about it - mainly because it comes with a company car too. In a recent house move, I've lost the photocard part. I have the paper part, and am putting in an application to get it replaced - but it could take up to three weeks! Am I !!!!!!ed now - they surely won't be willing to wait three weeks with many other good candidates at their disposal. Will I need both parts of my license?

Phone DVLA and say you've lost both parts of your licence, they then send out a replacement without forms, can't remember how long it took last time for me but it wasn't long

Why is there a problem, if you have the paper part that should be sufficient proof for your employer.

Are you sure? Whenever I've hired cars in the past it's been a requirement to provide both parts of the licence - I'm just a big worrier!

I may be wrong but I think there is big difference between hiring a car and having a company car, providing you can prove you have a valid licence it should not stop them employing you.

Sorry I can't, I just remember it was quicker than getting the forms and sending them off as the woman on the phone was able to just take debit card details and send it out.

As above though, from job offer to start date you've got time to sort out your licence too.
  • I applied on line for a lost licence, and it took about 7 days to arrive
