I did click the X to close. then got eventually. does it matter? OMG. should I panic. Oh Dear. These things scare me I am Totally alone when it comes to puter probs No help and know nuffing about sorting when it goes wrong.

As soon as I hit the 'clicky' in IE it opened up a anti virus scan thingy that took a couple of attempts to close, I will leave this comp for a day or so.

Pleaseadvise someone. Could I have let in a problem. should I do a scan or is it my details could have been hijacked.

Seems to only effect IE - Firefox was OK. The site is genuine but has had a popup added which seems to be a referral link - so I think the hacker is paid for sending hits to xponlinescanner. edit - XPOnlinescanner.com is a newer malicious website that may promote XPAntivirus which is a popular rogue anti-spyware program known to cause serious issues with computers on the internet.
This would only be a problem if you have downloaded the scanner
Cistolic - yes do a scan, but my best guess is that very little chance your details have been hijacked. The exploit was just to send hits to the xponlinescanner site.

OK,,, I have just gone to yahoo search engine, typed in " Britain got talent" and gone through that way to the comp with no probs..

TY so much wombat. I really panic. Only neighbours here real elderly 75+ Im like a kid where I live so if I get a prob I panic. Lost loadsa stuff on this puter with bugs twice in 18 months. Copied everything yesterday but when I have to reinstall everything its a nightmare. OMG me lights just gone out and come back.
