Experian - Slow to update info

Have just made my weekly Experian check (I am an annual subscriber) and seen the following discrepancy.
Barclaycard Gold Limit £50. Total owed £2009!
Sure enough I'm in the process of merging my 2 B'card accounts the available balance has been transferred over to my Platinum Card and the balance paid off prior to doing so but to any viewer it looks very dodgy.

But your "status" should still be fine which is what counts most.0

We have also had trouble with them. According to their records my husband isnt on the electoral register. He has lived here and been registered here for 5 years, but they still show my previous partner on my reports, who moved out 8 years ago!!!!!!!!!!
When i tried to put them right all they said to me was "prove it". We looked into getting proof from the council regarding the electoral reigster but it was going to cost us about £30 for copies so we didn't bother. They are a waste of time, and as usual you are fighting against the bloody system.0 -
Can't he get this information through the new Freedom of Information Act?applecharlotte wrote:When i tried to put them right all they said to me was "prove it". No, the FOI is about getting information about public activities, policies, etc. One of the many exemptions that make the FOI Act a farce is that you can't request information on individuals as that falls within the Data Protection Act (this is one of the more reasonable exemptions). However, under the Data Protection Act, the council are legally obliged to provide you with all information they hold about you if you request it (they may charge a fee of up to £10 - the maximum permissable under current law)YorkshireBoy wrote:Can't he get this information through the new Freedom of Information Act?
I had a similar problem to applecharlotte with Experian not showing me as being on the electoral register despite having lived at that address and filling in my forms for the previous 2 years. The way I resolved it was by contacting my council to confirm I was on the Electoral register, and they gave me my register number. I wrote to Experian quoting my register number and the name and contact details of my council and left it to them to sort out. According to the guy at the council I spoke to, they find it is a common problem with the CRAs of not having the up to date electoral roll details on peoples files despite them receiving regular updates.0 -

My Monday morning Credit Expert (Experian) check 08/05/06 shows the following files all updated to 14/05/06.
All in One weeks time!
1 Citibank Credit Card £3000 Limit £4 Owing
Actual Limit £3600 Limit £3300 Owing
2 Barclaycard Plat CC £11650 Limit £4868 Owing
Actual Limit £5000 Limit £4868 Owing
New M'Card £6560 Limit £0 Owing
3 RBS Platinum CCDetails Correct
4 ALPFDetails Correct
5 Morgan Stanley CCDetails Correct
None of these details affect me in a negative way in fact the first 2 actually benefit me as they won't be updated for another month.
Any ideas as to why these companies are doing this?Old Saying Once bitten twice shy
