Bank Charging to get reprints of statements?

Hi All,
I know its not strictly the same topic, but I needed some proof of residence to rent out a house, the letting agent said bank statments from the last few years would be ok, (printouts from internet banking wouldnt be ok) so I went to the bank (Nationwide) and they informed me I had to write a letter to them in the first place requesting the copies of the statements and it would cost £10 for each one I needed!
Has anybody else come across this before and is there an easier way to get hold of reprints from the bank?
I know it wouldve been easier to keep my old statements and bills etc, but since internet banking came in I stopped my paper statements and I get rid of bills after they have been paid,
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Write to them and phrase it as a subject access request under the Data Protection Act, requesting all such statements and enclosing a cheque for a tenner - the maximum charge for such requests.
Martin's bank charges guide on the main site has some template letters which you could modify for your purposes.0 -
Most banks charge £10 each for extra copies of statements. Usually copies of utility bills and council tax statements are accepted as proof of residence. Where are you currently staying? Maybe you have a previous tenancy agreement / references to show them?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Most banks will charge a fee for a copy of a bank statement/s unless you have not received it due to loss/damage.
I wonder if the bank could counter sign your internet banking statements to say they are true?! and if they would, if that would be accepted as proof of residence.
Hope this helpsDELETE ACCOUNT.
