how do I change the routers channel0

Log in to it, the same way you did when setting it up. Have a hunt around in the settings. I think the default will be 11. There should be some documentation that came with it which will give more information.
While you're at it, change the default username and password if you haven't already done so! (For logging in.)0 -
as the router is working fine with the laptop i wouldn't change anything there until i had ruled out problems with the pc if you make changes on the router you may lose connection thru the laptop which i presume you are using to view this forum
Try removing all networking protocols on the pc and going thru same setup you performed with the laptop 1stclick here to achieve nothing!0 -

You may not be able to change the user name, some routers do not let you.
I would advise leaving the user name as it is "admin" is standard but I would change and use a strong password.
And make sure you make a note of it and print it out for safe keeping.
Stick a copy on the underside of the router.0
