Who to send letter to?

I am attempting to recliam a 30 pound direct debit charge from nationwide as a gesture of good will as its the only time i have missed a payment and have over 10,000 with them in various accounts.

Is it best to send to my local branch or is there a complaints centre for it to go to?

Thanks

Have you tried phoning Customer Services? For first offence, they will usually refund straight away. Be polite, but firm and don't take no for an answer.

    If no joy write to:
    Nationwide Building Society
    Branch Service Centre

kind of similar situation except that the charge has not been taken yet - just saw the letter online to say it will be taken from my account early june.

so can I go to my bank and try to get this cancel??

Background: its bank of scotland, I have 3 accounts with them, overdraft at zero (because i wanted this way) - almost £10000 between accounts.

one of the account is just a card cash account where i keep minimum. and do a transfer every month on it.
i did a £15 cheque a month ago (gym at work) they're so slow it took them that long to get the cheque to the bank - at the time (and after) there was enough money to cover it - forgot about this, and I had just £9 on my account last week.
I went online to do my usual transfer to this account but the bloody website wouldn't let me make transfers!!!

today it worked and that's when i saw the letter about £35 charge
(£15 cheque, £9 on account, no overdraft possible)
i guess i need a bit of overdraft - but it never happened in 5years i had accounts.

    SO

*should i wait they take the charge? (by the way with no overdraft possible and only £9 on account how would they get paid?? would they take money on other accounts, in this case they could have done this for the £15!! )
too late now anyway i just transferred £100

*or try to get it canceled (and hint that anyway Ill try big time to get it back :D )

    Thank you!

edit: just wanted to add - they have my phone numbers and are very happy to call me to sell me all their insurances etc, but here would not call me to give me a few days to put some money on the account grrr!
