Can I just ask, I recently offered my Red Bull Flugtag tickets free to a good home to the first person to PM me because my plans had changed. Someone sent me their e-mail address and I sent them the details to print off the tickets.

These tickets were mine to give away so was this ok?

It's done now anyway and we had no problems but I just want to make sure I haven't broken the rules for future reference.

I didn't ask for a sarcastic reply espresso, just a simple answer would be fine thanks. The bit I don't understand is:

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts.

Am I not allowed to offer anything at all, even if it is mine to give away?

    Helpful answers greatfully received.

You would have needed contact details for someone to send them tickets. The rule is very clear on this...Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details (personal details can include name, address, email address, etc) either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts.

Martin has also made it clear why this rule is in place.........The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.

If anyone has any problem with this (or any) rule on MSE. Contact the abuse team to discuss your problem. [Removed by Forum Team]

As Rex said, it doesn't matter how honourable your intention, you shouldn't be exchanging personal details such as e-mail addresses etc to protect your self as much as anything. I get it now.

It's a shame but not all people are as nice as us.

There are many sites set up to give away or swap unwanted items. Freecycle is my favourite.

By making this rule, Martin has made clear that he doesn't want it happening on MSE. He is trying to keep members as safe as possible whilst using this site.
