    From the Anglian Water website.

Unfortunately, due to high interest in a recent promotion of the fat trap, we are no longer providing free fat traps to our customer.

they should make more cars to run off oils/fats, everyone uses so much of them.
Did anyone see in the paper the other day, some guy runs his car off the local kebab shop oil for 21p a litre?!

I use a glass jar (I know I should recycle it but we get no reward for that so I use it the best way I know and recycle those I don't use!) - that way you can put the fat in just after cooking (or just after draining it from the mince!!) without risking it ending up all over the worktop. I put the lid on in between top-ups and dispose of when full!

  • well i cant use a tin or plasic bottles or glass as our council has now provided us with brightly coloured boxes one for tins one for paper one for glass and one for plastic i now have to wash the tins out and remove the wrapper place that in the blue paper box! like i havent got enough to do running round after the kids dont mind doing my bit but when im in a hurry the last thing i want to do is wash out my tin of beans i had for lunch then remove the paper! so where do i put my fat? at the bottom of my bin bag that is no longer black they are now a clear bag (we get a roll of 56 per year one for each week and a couple extra for over xmas!!) so that the bin men can make sure im sepetarting all that im meant to....crazy!

You could pour the fat into a tin or bowl as other posters have suggested, and then remove it when it has set and recycle the tin if you used that and dispose of the solid fat in the rubbish or give it to the birds.

am I right in thinking though, that fat from cooking with vegetable oil doesn't go hard? Whenever I put it in a tin, it just sits there as oil.

Thanks to all competition posters :T
