how to mend bent arm on rotary airer?

is it possible to fix something on to straighten the bent arm on a rotary washing line? I think my son bent it with vigourous play, he likes spinning the line around, however much I ask him not to, he says it wasn't him . I've tried bending the arm back into straight line, but it just re-creases when wet washing is hung on the line, and the washing lines get all tangled.

it' s a minky brand and the 4 arms are made from bent galvanised aluminium(?) , so it's not as solid as it looks in the pics.

I've never the 'rotalift' to work easily either.

thanks
any mending tips appeciated, as it seems wasteful to throw it away.
TIA

  • Hi,

looks as though the arms are hollow, so once you get the offending arm straightened you could maybe push a solid rod of sorts into it,

try a good squirt of WD40 on the 'rotalift', it has maybe seized up.

Looks like the the arms are roll formed galvanised steel. The trouble is, its kinked at some point. Even if you bend it back, it will still have a bit of a kink in it, and the bending will have weakened it from it original strength.
If you do it a few more times, it will probably break right off.

A bar of some sort inside the channel and fixed at each end would probably solve it. Its fixing it that will make the difference in a channel.
