Keep a watch out for people standing near you at retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc., that have a cell phone in hand. With the new camera cell phones, they can take a picture of your credit card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration date. Identification theft is one of the fastest growing scams today, and this is just another example of the means that are being used. So... be aware of your surroundings.

IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

i know - i usually dont really care who is watching - so stupid and naive - gonna have to really take care now!!!0

Don't forget that many stores have cameras above the tills - not only could anyone monitoring them see your card, but also your PIN when you enter it.
Always stand between the camera and the card machine.0 -
just got back from shopping and i totally hid my card with my body positioned over it - no way could anyone look....0

Pretty simple this one, always present your card FACE DOWN. Most sales people will return your card this way you will notice.0

Hmm I tink its the CHIP N PIN thing as the responsibility is yours if you go to a bar/pub or large retail shop they hand you a keypad to enter your number anyone could jst read the number you input and mug you later..... not very secure a signiture takes a bit more effort than a pin I wonder why they had pins rather than a pad you could sign???
the choice is yours use it in a busy place or a quiete place??? scary....0 -
Turning your card over could be worse than you think. On the signature strip is a 7 digit number. The first 4 are the last 4 digits of the card number. The last three are whats called the CVV2 number which is a random number unique to your card that is now required on most websites to order goods.
Personally, I would keep mine number side up but make sure my number is covered with my thumb or finger.0 -
Are phone camera's really that good enough to take a pic with that kind of detail on it? Id be wary if someone was right by me, but people dont generally get that close and not get noticed taking a pic!

I never even thought about this, i can't believe people are that cunning. This chip and pin thing is a load of crap. Anyone can see what pin you put in, those key pads are not very discrete. We should have photos on the backs of all cards.
Anyway, i'll keep my fingers crossed that i'm on of the lucky ones. I'm not just a money saver, i'm a tight fisted old cow too!! I check my accounts so often, if so much as a penny was out of place i'd know about it!! It drives the husband mad!!!0
