Xenical?

I am scared to post this as by doing so I am admitting I have a weight issue, and a bad one at that, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Xenical?
My doctor has prescribed it for me, and so far I've not had any of the dreaded side effects (Google it to see what I mean) Has it worked for you?
Before people start on about what a slob I am and ask what I am eating - I have radically transformed my eating habits - I had to prove I could loose weight a little before I was prescribed Xenical. I eat lots of fruit and veg now, very little meat, and get exercise. I bought a bike the other week and do an hours bike ride every day.
Sorry if I am been defensive, just it's a sensitive subject for me, and I've seen people shot down on these boards before. Any advice would be great though

Please don't be scared!!:D
Someone I know was on it for several months. It didn't suit her she said because she got stomach cramps and had a few "accidents"
Sounded pretty awful to me.
Mind you she has a habit of only half-listening to what medical staff tell her and never reading the info sheets you get with medication. I think she thought she could eat whatever she liked and in whatever quantities and the weight would drop off as she took the pills. But it didn't!!
I will say there are a lot of people out there who have weight problems who are in denial though. So many people say "I've tried every diet going and I just cannot lose weight. Nothing works for me." You have to change your way of eating for more than a day!! I know someone who reckons nothing works for her but I can't remember her ever following ANY eating plan properly. She thinks she can eat chocs, biscuits, chips and sarnies, browse through a slimming book and she'll lose half a stone overnight!!:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I haven't had any "accidents" cos i am sticking to a very low fat diet
Someone said today I already look "more compact" lol :j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0 -
Hi kendalls cave
I tried this several years ago (when it was still very new on the market) and just wanted to wish you luck with it. It can work for you, and it sounds like you have a sensible approach to working with it which is great - trust me, it is impossible to take Xenical and not amend your eating habits without some nasty side effects (I had a couple of "slip ups" food-wise whilst on it..."oh, how bad can it really be...?" - VERY bad is the answer...I quickly learned that I couldn't "cheat" and hope to get away with it!!
).
Glad you (and others) are already seeing the positive side effects - good on you for tackling your weight problem (ignore people who feel the need to have a go - there are lots more of us out there who share the same problem and are just full of admiration for you for dealing with it :T). I hope that the Xenical helps you achieve the result you want!

Hi kendalls cave, tried Xenical, didnt work for me, no real physcological assistance, ie root causes of being obese - and whilst I dont disagree with the sincerity of the answers so far, diet pills did work for me, specifically reductil.
The pill speeded up my metabolism and reduced my appetite allowing me to come down from 19 stone to 12 stone over a space of 1.5 years.
I am now 11.2 stone having kept the weight off for 2 further years and enjoy regular gym activities, healthy eating and abstention from my danger foods, ie. steak n ale pies, fish n chips, indian food and wine.
I am still enjoying chocolate, crisps and chinese food, but in great moderation.
The drug effectively enabled me to deal with the physcological problems that had prevented me from loosing weight for some 19 years, so that from age 20 until 39 I was sentenced by my own weaknesses and ignorance about bad foods to be grossly obese - it sucks, and the only way you will loose it is from within, I just needed a strong drug to help me !
So see your GP, and provided your heart is up to it, under close medical supervision with regular blood pressure tests, give it a go.
Dont forget that it is potentially dangerous to take reductil, but 110 % dangerous to be obese and develop early diabetes/ cancer/ heart disease etc etc..

Thanks all for you kind and supportive replies. Well I've been on it a week tomorrow, and it is working. I've lost half a stone. :j The great thing about Xenical is that I can't cheat and eat rubbish, because I will suffer . Not that I have tried to cheat. I hate exactly the same stuff without Xenical with no weight loss.
I see my GP again next week (who prescribed it ) so am been kept a close eye on. I am so excited to be finally on the road to a thinner and healthier me:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0 -
Xenical didn't work for me and it was as if I had been eating heinz beans for lunch breakfast and dinner. My problem is that I eat lots of carbs and do not really eat much fat honestly.
I wash my ground beef in water after cooking it and am very concious about fat. I think if you have a high fat diet it will work for you and also make you cut down on the fat or otherwise you will get cramps and toot toot ya know what I mean.
I know a lady in the market and she has lost 3 stone and is very excited about it. The person that said reductil works for them, how much do you take? I mean grams tablets please. Thanks Taffy0 -
It never worked for me, but I don't eat much fatty food either.0

Carbs are my downfall potatoes, bread etc. No butter on the potatoes tho and very little on the bread but bring on the ole carbs.
I did have a terrible accident on Xenical one fine day when I had 2 eggs, bacon and sausage oooeeee wouldn't like to repeat that. If I ate like that normally I wouldn't be able to on Xenical but this was a one off treat NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I lost 5 stone taking Xenical. Unfortunately due to circumstances I was taken off it,then I relapsed and gained alot back.
If anyone on it has suffered the dreaded orange oil or "accidents" then it is simply because you are not following the diet and are consuming too much fat. It is not rocket science.
Good luck in your weight loss. :beer:0 -
Kendalls cave, I am sending you a pm.
Please ignore the post by someone who only has two posts and recommends a weight loss drug. I find those kinds of posts highly suspicious.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
